Review: Dragonskin Slippers, by Jessica Day George

Creelisel Carlbrun is surprised one day when her aunt says that she will be left outside a dragon’s cave, in hope that a rich knight will rescue and marry her, making the poor farm family wealthy.

Creel bargains with the dragon that he will let her go with something from his hoard, on the condition that she will ensure that the dragon will not have the bother of fighting any knight that was sent to rescue her.  Theoradus, the dragon, agrees to the deal.  Creel picks out some pretty blue shoes, unbeknownst to her that they were magical.  Creel leaves the dragon and heads to the city of Kings Seat, where she hopes to be employed as seamstress.

One morning, Creel awakes to find that her beautiful, blue slippers have been stolen!  She is sure that they were taken by Princess Amalia- but why?
Creel and her new friend band together to get the slippers back, not knowing what a big adventure it will be.

I really liked this book because it was magic mixed with adventure and dragons and I like reading about all of those.  The way the author wrote it was brilliant and I never could guess what would happen next-the only way to find out was by turning the page!
